At FJSPED, BCBA's are on staff to build and plan interventions, and we are looking for RBT's or BT's to implement the interventions and instructions on a daily basis within the classroom. The current position involves working one to one with students in 1-2 classrooms at a grade school in Jefferson County. The classroom and program is design for students who are on the autism spectrum or who have other communication disorders. 

Professional development and on the job training for new RBT/BT are key at FJSPED. We strive to create a learning environment where we all work together to support both students and staff in learning and reaching their potential.

Certified Nursing Assistant

The overall purpose of the Certified Nursing Assistant position is to provide the assigned student with routine daily nursing care as well as educational services by supporting teaching staff instruction and skill bonding.


Education and Experience:
*State certification and Certified Nursing Assistant

*Current students enrolled in a CNA program that have completed at least 16 hours of training will be considered

*If you are a student, you must have a valid CNA certification within 120 days of being hired

*CPR certification preferred. Can gain this certification as part of on the job training.

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Under the direction of an Occupational Therapist and a classroom teacher, a COTA provides skill instruction and implements therapy plans with children who are on the Autism Spectrum or with related developmental disabilities in the school setting. COTA’s unique skill set benefits the students within our Communication Disorders Classroom. 

 

At FJSPED, Occupational Therapists and BCBA’s are on staff to build and plan interventions, and we are looking for COTA’s to implement the interventions and instruction on a daily basis within the classroom. The classroom integrates specific therapy, academic instruction, and sensory activities with students throughout their day.

 

The current position involves working one to one with students within 1 to 2 classrooms at a grade school in Jefferson County, IL.  The classroom and program are designed for students who are on the Autism Spectrum or who have other communication disorders.

 

Professional development and on the job training for a new COTA are provided, as well as Supervision from on-staff Occupational Therapists and BCBBA’s. We strive to create a learning environment where we all work together to support both students and staff in learning and reaching their potential.

Full-time position for a Special Education Teacher for Franklin Jefferson Counties Special Education District #801. FJSPED Special Education teachers work in specialized programs for students with disabilities.  Special Education create individualized learning plans and activities for students at the appropriate developmental level utilizing a variety of instructional and behavioral techniques. Special education teachers are responsible for completing necessary information for IEP’s and for managing paraprofessionals within their classroom. SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST 

Permanent School Psychology position open on the FJSPED School Psychology team. School Psychologists at FJSPED work collaboratively with school staff and parents to assess student skills, develop and implement interventions, and improve multi-tiered systems of support for struggling students from ages pre-k to 21.  School Psychologists consult with school staff on behavior, academic, and social emotional interventions and data collection.  The School Psychology team participates in a multitude of learning opportunities and professional development throughout each school year, often including attending NASP Conferences, ISPA Conferences, Special Education Law workshops, Behavior Modification workshops, Trauma workshops, and more. Opportunity to join the Behavior Team exists.  

Illinois School Psychology Professional Educator License or coursework towards license is required.

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

Full time School Social Worker position open at Franklin and Jefferson Counties Special Education #801.  School Social Workers also consult with staff and other related service providers to create individualized plans for students with disabilities. They work collaboratively with special education and general education educators to assess student skills and deficits, and provide social and emotional therapy and skills to children with disabilities.

The School Social Work team participates in a variety of professional development activities yearly. FJSPED also provides Medicaid billing and IEP writing workshops and support.   

School Social workers must have a valid Illinois PEL license to provide social work services, or have completed coursework for the license.

TEACHER OF VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Full-time position for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for Franklin Jefferson Counties Special Education District #801. FJSPED is looking to hire a reliable and independent individual responsible for vision assessments, braille instruction, assistive technology, consultation to schools, families and other service providers. The TVI provides Direct instruction to students from birth through high school with and without additional disabilities and is able to collaborate with other TVI Specialists at FJSPED. Dually Certified TVI/O&M employees would also provide O&M lessons to students.  

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired preferred or in process.  The Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) can be acquired soon after employment. A dual licensure/certification as a TVI and Orientation and Mobility Specialist is also accepted. Must have proper Illinois certification/license, or in process to obtain license in IL.

Administrative Assistant CLOSED

FJSPED Administrative Assistant tasks include: Preparing and sending IEP Meeting Notices to school and parents, preparing workshop materials and tracking professional development hours, answering phones and directing calls, receiving and managing packages and supply orders, delivering office mail to Post Office, managing conference schedule, and acts as the Records Custodian for special education documentation.  This position may also require staff order supplies, assist with special education claims, maintain FJSPED Directory Manual, manage special education paperwork and files, assist FJSPED staff with other tasks, and work with data in specialized systems.  On the job training provided.   

The position requires someone who can maintain confidentiality of student information, work well with colleges on a team, and showcase flexibility in daily task completion.
